Project and program management

Complex projects go off the rails in predictable ways: unclear scope, the wrong people making decisions, and nobody willing to say out loud that things are behind. We bring experienced project and program leadership that keeps delivery honest and on track.

What's included

The scope is shaped to your situation, so the specifics shift between engagements. A typical scope of work covers:

  • Clear project governance: the right people, the right decisions at the right level, and a rhythm that keeps things moving.
  • Scope, schedule and budget management, with transparent reporting and early flags when something is at risk.
  • Stakeholder management and communications, so the people who need to know are kept informed and the people who need to act are ready to.
  • Risk and issue management that is practical rather than bureaucratic, focused on the things that could actually derail delivery.

Who it's for

This service is for organisations managing significant change or delivery. That might be a technology implementation, a business transformation, a major process change, or any other initiative that is complex enough to need dedicated program leadership.

It is also useful for organisations that have tried to run projects internally and found that the day job keeps getting in the way. A dedicated project lead means someone is always watching the whole picture, even when everyone else is heads down.

How we typically engage

Every engagement is tailored, but the shape stays the same.

  1. Understand

We get across the full scope of what is being delivered, the constraints you are working within, and where the real risks are. We talk to the people doing the work, not just the sponsors.

  2. Articulate

We establish clear governance, agree on how decisions will be made, and set up reporting that gives everyone the visibility they need without burying them in it.

  3. Implement

We run the program: managing the schedule, tracking the budget, coordinating the workstreams, and keeping stakeholders aligned. We deal with the issues early, before they become problems.

  4. Embed

We close the program cleanly, document what was delivered and what was learned, and hand over in a way that sets the business up for what comes next.

Frequently asked questions

Can you step into a project that is already in trouble?

Yes. Rescue and recovery work is something we have done many times. The first step is always an honest assessment of where things actually stand, which is sometimes harder to get than it sounds.

Do you work with our existing project team or replace them?

We work with your team. We bring structure, governance and experienced leadership. We do not replace your people; we help them deliver more effectively.

How long does a typical engagement run?

It depends on the scope. Shorter, well-defined pieces of work can be completed in a few weeks. Larger transformation programs typically run several months, and some run across multiple years. We agree the shape and timeline before we start, with checkpoints along the way.

How do you price your work?

Fixed scope and price for well-defined work, and time-and-materials for discovery and longer programs. We always agree the commercial model in writing before we start.

Will I be working with the senior consultant who scopes the work?

Yes. We also tailor the consultant skillset to your needs and budget, so you get the right mix of experience for the engagement without paying for more than you need.
