Business process improvement

Inefficient processes tend to be invisible until they become a real problem. By then they are usually expensive to fix and deeply embedded in how people work. We help organisations find the friction early, fix it properly, and build the habits that stop it from coming back.

What's included

The scope is shaped to your situation, so the specifics shift between engagements. A typical scope of work covers:

  • A structured review of the processes that matter most to your business, including where time is lost, where errors occur, and where effort is not producing value.
  • Process redesign that simplifies the work, reduces handoffs, and makes the right way to do things the easiest way to do them.
  • Implementation of the improved processes alongside your team, including any system changes, documentation and training needed to make them stick.
  • A continuous improvement framework your team can use to keep improving on their own, without needing a consultant in the room every time.

Who it's for

This service is for organisations where the way work gets done is starting to slow the business down. That might mean a team that is working hard but not getting the output the effort should produce. It might mean a process that made sense when the business was smaller but does not scale. Or it might mean a series of recurring problems that keep getting fixed individually but never seem to go away permanently.

It is also a good fit for organisations preparing for growth, a system change, or a significant increase in volume, and wanting to make sure their processes are ready for it.

How we typically engage

Every engagement is tailored, but the shape stays the same.

  1. Understand

We map the current processes, talk to the people doing the work, and identify where the real friction is. We look at data where it exists and observation where it does not.

  2. Articulate

We document the improved process design, show the difference clearly, and make the case for the changes in a way your team can understand and get behind.

  3. Implement

We work alongside your team to introduce the new processes, making adjustments as we go and making sure the changes actually land in practice, not just on paper.

  4. Embed

We put in place the measures and the habits that keep the improvements from sliding back. Sustained improvement requires discipline, and we help you build it in.

Frequently asked questions

How do you identify which processes to focus on?

We start with the processes that have the most impact on your customers or your costs. Volume, error rate, rework and cycle time are usually good guides. We work with your team to confirm the priorities before we go deep on any of them.

Do you use a specific methodology like Lean or Six Sigma?

We draw on a range of methods depending on what the problem calls for. We are not dogmatic about methodology. What matters is that the improvements are practical, sustainable, and actually get implemented.

How long does a typical engagement run?

It depends on the scope. Shorter, well-defined pieces of work can be completed in a few weeks. Larger transformation programs typically run several months, and some run across multiple years. We agree the shape and timeline before we start, with checkpoints along the way.

How do you price your work?

Fixed scope and price for well-defined work, and time-and-materials for discovery and longer programs. We always agree the commercial model in writing before we start.

Will I be working with the senior consultant who scopes the work?

Yes. We also tailor the consultant skillset to your needs and budget, so you get the right mix of experience for the engagement without paying for more than you need.
